Fisherman's calendar for December 2023: what fish will be best caught in the first month of winter

Experienced anglers know that the beginning of December is usually quite favorable for winter fishing. You don't even have to wait until the water is covered with the first ice - you can fish from the shore.

December is best for catching predatory fish. When calculating favorable days for fishing, experts pay attention to the preliminary weather forecast, analysis of pressure, wind, moon phases, and other factors that affect fish activity.

What fish bite in December

At the beginning of winter, pike perch, burbot, river burbot, pike, and other predatory fish species bite well. In warm weather, you can catch crucian carp and roach.

Winter fishing is a rather dangerous pastime, so you should follow important tips:

• Do not go out on the ice if it is thin;
• take extra warm clothes and blankets with you to avoid getting sick;
• stock up on nutritious food and hot drinks in a thermos.

Fish will also bite well on December 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 16, 23, 24, 25 and 31.

Poor fishing is predicted for December 12, 14, 15, 26, 28, 29, 30.

And the most unfavorable days will be December 13 and 27.
