Puffy cruffins instead of ordinary Easter cakes: how to prepare spectacular baked goods for the holiday

Recently it has become very fashionable to make cruffins for Easter. The dough for these pastries is a cross between croissants and muffins. It turns out to be very tasty and aesthetically pleasing if you add a lot of candied fruits and dried fruits.

The idea of making fluffy Easter cruffins was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Victoria with the nickname viktoria__cooking. You just need to sprinkle powder on top. No need to make white fondant.

Ingredients for the starter:

  • warm milk - 200 ml.
  • flour - 60 g
  • live yeast - 50 g
  • turmeric, vanilla, orange zest - 1/2 tsp.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • eggs - 4 pcs.
  • sugar - 200 g
  • butter - 110 g
  • flour (do not add more so that the dough is not clogged) - 600-650 g

Ingredients:

  • butter - 100 g
  • candied fruit, raisins, cranberries to taste

Method of preparation:

1. For the dough, combine warm milk, yeast, flour, orange zest, vanilla, and turmeric.

2. Mix with a whisk until smooth.

3. Cover with a towel and leave for 15 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, beat eggs in a deep bowl.

5. Add sugar and beat with a mixer until light (10-15 minutes). Add melted butter, the starter and mix thoroughly again.

6. Add sifted flour in several stages and mix first with a whisk and then knead on the surface with your hands.

7. Grease your hands with vegetable oil so that the dough sticks less to your hands and kneads better. At first, it will be very sticky and fall apart, but be patient. It will become very elastic after a while. Knead by hand for 15 minutes. You can also use a planetary mixer.

8. Put the finished dough in a bowl greased with vegetable oil and leave it in a warm place for 1-2 hours. It is important that there are no drafts in the room.

9. Divide the dough into 3 parts, depending on the size of your baking dish, and roll each into a rectangle.

10. Brush with butter and sprinkle with dried fruit.

11. Roll the dough and form cruffins.

12. Put into molds, cover with a towel and leave to rise for another hour.

13. Bake them in a preheated 180 degree oven in the top-down mode for 30-40 minutes.

14. If you see that the top is browning quickly, cover with foil and bake further.

15. Remove the finished cruffins from the oven and cool.

16. Decorate with powdered sugar if desired.
