On Sunday, September 22, Ukrainians chose the winner of the National Selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which will be held in Madrid, Spain, on November 16. Our country will be represented by Artem Kotenko with the song "Home".

The jury gave him 5 points, and the audience gave him 6 points. The total of 11 points put Artem on the first place in the standings among the six participants of the show. Online voting started two days before the final and continued during the competition.

The result of the audience and judges' choice of their favorite equalized the scores of Artem Kotenko and Zlata Ivanov. They both received 11 points each. According to the rules of the song contest, in case of a tie, the winner is chosen based on the number of points received by the participants from the audience. That's why Kotenko will represent Ukraine in Madrid at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, even though the jury preferred the Ivans' performance.

Moreover, even before the final of the National Selection, Euro fans predicted that Anastasia Belibova would win with her song Unbelievable. However, as we can see, she received only 8 points in total.

The final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 was held in the same format as the classic Eurovision Song Contest: a TV concert. The Grand Finalist was chosen by the audience and 3 jury members: singer ROXOLANA, TVORCHI sound producer Andriy Hutsulyak and Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 jury member Vitaliy Drozdov.

The hosts of this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest are Timur Miroshnychenko, the irreplaceable voice of Eurovision in Ukraine, Anna Trincher, the singer and representative of Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2015, who was confirmed by OBOZ.UA's own sources on August 15, and TV presenter and singer Anna Tullieva.

The winner of the National Selection for Junior Eurovision 2024, 12-year-old Artem Kotenko, comes from the long-suffering Okhtyrka, Sumy region. He performed his song "Home" about how Russians are taking away Ukrainians' homes and hometowns, and won the show. The vocalist himself flatly refused to leave the frontline town of Okhtyrka. He said this during the National Selection broadcast on YouTube.

Artem Kotenko started his life with music at the age of 3, and at 5 he began to sing professionally. He has already won the Black Sea Games in 2021. This is not the young man's first attempt to conquer Eurovision: in 2023, he was included in the longlist of the national selection.

His dream is to become famous all over the world and show his fans what talent, as he says, lives in Ukraine.

What is known about Junior Eurovision 2024

It is known that according to the rules of the show, 15 children participating in the longlist had to take part in a summer "star school" at the Ukrainian Radio Recording House. There, they could improve their vocal, acting, and choreography skills. As a result of the exams and competitions, only 6 participants made it to the finals.

After the results were announced, the performances were prepared by singer Svetlana Tarabarova and producer Yevhen Triplov (both prepared original songs) and choreographer Yevhen Kot (responsible for stage performances).

This year's international competition will be held on November 16 in the Spanish capital, Madrid. It also became known about the identity of Junior Eurovision 2024 and its slogan. The show will be represented by watercolor flowers in purple and orange theme. "Let's bloom" is this year's slogan.
