Alexander Feklistov on the war

Soviet and Russian actor Alexander Feklistov, best known for his role as Alexander Berkovich (San Sanych) in the TV series Svaty got in touch for the first time in a long time after emigrating from Russia. He was one of the first to support Ukrainians and call for a ceasefire from Russia.

His anti-Kremlin stance forced him to leave his homeland and move to Europe. He continues his creative work there. The Russian spoke about his experiences after February 24, 2022, in an interview with Yevgeny Kiselyov on YouTube.

Feklistov admitted that he did not feel threatened by the state because of his support for Ukrainians, but he was punished as all his performances were canceled. Left without a job, the artist did not change his mind and recorded words of support for his colleagues from Ukraine.

After refusing to participate in propaganda events and travel to the occupied Ukrainian cities, his career in Russia was finally over.

Feklistov said he had no choice but to emigrate. He now lives in Europe. Russian media claim that Svaty star has found refuge in Barcelona, where he "act in plays, all the money raised from which are send to help Ukrainians."

Recalling his past in the Svaty project, the actor denied that his acquaintance with Zelenskyy had anything to do with his desire to flee Russia.

According to the artist, he knew one of the creators of the show Svaty for only a day. They met at a celebration of the series' anniversary but never became close.
