What is known about John Lennon's sons

Today, on October 9, the famous British rock musician, lead singer of The Beatles, John Lennon, would have turned 84 years old. The artist was murdered in the yard of his own home on December 8, 1980.

The star left behind a considerable musical legacy, and his only two sons continued their father's work. Read on to find out what is known about the legendary musician's descendants and why one of them broke his own promise for the sake of Ukraine.

Julian Lennon

Julian, the eldest son from Lennon's first marriage to Cynthia Lillian, was born on April 8, 1963. The kid inspired his father to write three famous Beatles songs - "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (1967), "Hey Jude" (1968) and "Good Night" (1968). John and Julian's mother divorced when he was 5 years old. The reason was the musician's affair with the artist Yoko Ono.

In 1984, Lennon's son began his musical career, releasing 6 albums since then. In addition, Julian has produced documentaries and held exhibitions of his artistic photography. In 2007, he opened The White Feather Foundation, a charitable foundation to address "environmental and humanitarian issues."

In April 2022, after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Julian Lennon broke his vow to never perform his father's most famous song, "Imagine." In this way, he demonstrated his support for the Ukrainian people.

Sean Lennon

Married to Yoko Ono, on October 9, 1975, Lennon had a son, Sean. After this "gift" for his 35th birthday, the famous musician became a real family man. He had a good relationship with his younger son until the star was killed in 1980. Sean's first musical experience in public was recording his mother's album. At the time, he was recounting from memory a story his father had once told him.

Later on, Sean started a music career, in particular through collaborations with eminent artists such as Lenny Kravitz. Nowadays, Lennon continues his artistic activity and is on good terms with his older brother. He is also good friends with the sons of other Beatles members - George Harrison's son, Dhani, and Paul McCartney's son, James.
