Trump has appointed three legendary actors as his "special ambassadors" to Hollywood: what they will do

Trump appointed three legendary actors as his "special ambassadors" in Hollywood

Newly elected US President Donald Trump has announced that he has appointed Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone as his "special ambassadors" to Hollywood. The 78-year-old politician aims to restore the American film industry to its former glory, so the three famous actors are to become his "ears and eyes" in the Los Angeles area.

According to the Associated Press, the statesman posted a statement on his Truth Social platform. He noted that he plans to listen to all the advice and recommendations of celebrities to return Hollywood to its "golden age."

"I'm honored to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as special ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as my special ambassadors to bring back Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business to foreign countries over the past four years. To bring it back and make it bigger, better, and stronger than ever. These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will do what they suggest. Hollywood, like the rest of the United States, will once again have a golden age!" the politician said.

Donald Trump's decision came as a real surprise to Mel Gibson. According to the actor, he learned the news along with everyone else. He noted that he accepts the politician's offer because it is his duty as a citizen to "provide all possible assistance."

"I am old enough to have seen the golden age of Hollywood. However, today the situation is much worse. Very few films are being made here now, but we are lucky that we have a new president who wants to bring Hollywood back to its former glory," said Jon Voight about the statesman's decision.

Sylvester Stallone has also taken a positive view of Donald Trump's "special envoy" status. The actor has been a longtime supporter of the newly elected US president, and once even compared him to George Washington.

"No one in the world could have done what he did. So I'm in awe. When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he would change the world. Just imagine what the world would look like without him. Guess what? We have a second George Washington," said the Rocky star.

It's worth noting that film production in the US has declined significantly in recent years. First, it was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, then by the Writers Guild strikes in 2023, and now by the large-scale wildfires that have engulfed many parts of Los Angeles. Compared to 2021, film production in the United States has dropped by 26%.
