Russian pop singer Alla Pugacheva and her husband, comedian Maxim Galkin, left Russia almost immediately after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russians adored the comedian, so he could have continued to develop his career there, but his sense of freedom of speech forced him to leave the country for Israel.

Maxim realized that he would be in trouble for his harsh statements and ridicule of dictator Vladimir Putin. As a sign of his struggle against the regime, he decided to speak openly about the hateful cult of war in his homeland, but only from abroad. Rustam Solntsev, a Russian showman who moved to the United States and the star of the scandalous Russian reality TV show Dom-2, told Dmitry Gordon more about why Galkin and his family moved to another country in an interview.

"He had crystal clear and bold feelings despite the fact that he was the star of Channel One, appeared on Blue Light New Year's shows, and everything else. No! This man was filled with freedom like with air. And when this freedom began to be pumped out en masse, his departure with his family, young wife and children was inevitable," Solntsev explained.

He added that the Russians could not easily manipulate Galkin because he had long known his target and was not going to follow the propaganda on a leash. He was also not affected by any criticism.

"And again, all this propaganda s**t like "Oh, Max, you've wasted your happiness" did not work... It was all for nothing. They could have tried to manipulate him like they wanted, but it was no use! Before them was a grown, confident person, a very cool, freedom-loving, talented artist. First and foremost, a human being, a father, a husband," the showman continued.

Solntsev added that he is also often criticized by Russians because of his decision to leave Russia. Now the showman lives in America and is trying to defend his "anti-war position."

"Every time some bastard gets into my chat room and starts telling me that I've made the biggest mistake of my life, I have only one thing to say, 'Listen, Pugacheva left. Who am I to doubt this action if even Pugacheva and Galkin left? That is, there is no higher bar, as they say, only my mom comes after them. And they set an example," the Russian noted.
