The "silent" Valeriy Meladze was spotted in Russia: The probable reason for the secret visit is revealed
Valeriy Meladze, a singer of Georgian origin who is silent about the war in Ukraine, has been spotted in Russia. He doesn't give concerts in the aggressor country, but he enjoys performing for Russian-speaking audiences. That's why he recently found himself in Russia not because of another performance.
He probably visited the cemetery to visit the grave of his father, Shota Meladze, who died a year ago. According to Russian media, the "silent" artist also visited his mother and relatives.
Interestingly, he was accompanied by security guards all the time, and the visit was held in complete secrecy. At the cemetery, he sat in a car for more than 5 minutes and waited for security to inspect the area. Only after a full inspection did the artist approach his father's grave.
He was traveling around Moscow in a motorcade of tinted SUVs. This happened before the start of the singer's world tour, which will begin in a month.
The performances will be timed to coincide with his 60th birthday, which will end on October 26. Not a single concert will take place in Russia - all of them will be in Europe and the United States. However, Valeriy Meladze does not rule out the possibility of singing at a private event in Russia. For his performance, one will have to pay 15.5 million rubles, which is equivalent to 6.4 million hryvnias.
Valeriy Meladze has not commented on the Russian invasion, but in December 2023, his eloquent act made clear the singer's political ambitions. He repaid a considerable debt of 1.8 million rubles to the Russian tax service after a large-scale missile strike on Ukraine. By doing so, the artist showed that he did not mind contributing to the killing of Ukrainians.
It is interesting that propagandists believe that Valeriy Meladze's concerts are funded by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "They travel around Europe, collect money, and some of them finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Money is laundered through them in this way," the Russians assured.
In particular, Albina Janabayeva, the former lead singer of the "golden lineup" of the Ukrainian band VIA Gra, with whom Meladze has been living together for over 10 years, gives concerts in Russia. However, she claims that the singer is angry at the Kremlin's actions.
Meladze also professed his love for both Ukrainians and Russians and stated that he did not want to please anyone.
