The National Selection for Eurovision 2025 has started: which stars will take part or hinted at it

Who can participate in the National Selection for Eurovision 2025

The National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 has officially started. This marks the start of accepting applications from potential participants of the show who will compete for the right to represent Ukraine in Switzerland next year.

This was reported by Suspilne. Those interested will have two months to submit their candidacy - from September 17 to November 10, 2024. This can be done through a special online form on eurovision.ua. According to available data, the final of the National Selection will take place in February 2025.

Selection criteria

This year's music producer of the national contest, Tina Karol, urged the performers to take the chance. The singer also emphasized the key requirements for the songs submitted by the artists. "It's important that one artist can submit several songs: two, three or even four. They can even be submitted in demos," the star reminded, recommending that musical talents experiment.

"But there are important selection criteria: they must be original author's songs. Tracks based on other compositions are not accepted. Folk songs are not accepted. Songs that have already been published, even if it's only 10 seconds, are not accepted. And remember that the song should be 3 minutes long," Karol added.

Even before the dates of the National Selection were announced, many Ukrainian musicians hinted at their desire to take part in the competition. One of the first was singer Artem Pivovarov, who addressed the users with a dilemma back in May 2024. The last time the star stood on the stage of the national competition in 2021, he was disqualified due to a rule violation. Prior to that, LAUD participated in the 2018 and 2019 national selections.

Clonnex

Clonnex, a popular rapper from Lviv, did not ignore the topic of the song contest, hinting on social media that he plans to apply for the National Selection. The young man asked his followers "Who should represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2025?", pointing to himself. "Are you ready? Thank you to everyone who has come this far with me," he wrote under the video posted in early September 2024.
