Russian media: SERDUCHKA and Galkin banned from performing in UAE and fined for pro-Ukrainian stance
Famous Russian comedian and TV presenter Maxim Galkin was fined 100,000 dirhams (over a million hryvnias) by the government of the United Arab Emirates for allegedly making pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian statements at a concert in Dubai. Meanwhile, the famous Ukrainian musician, showman, and impersonator Andrii Danylko, who plays the beloved Verka Serduchka on stage, was banned from entering the country for the same reason and ordered to pay a fine.
At least that's what a number of Russian resources claim. It is noted that Galkin's concert, which the UAE government agencies did not like, took place in 2023, and Serduchka's performance at a corporate event took place in 2022.
During Galkin's performance, which allegedly provoked the fine, the comedian, in his typical manner, ridiculed the Russian government and Putin's jesters. Obviously, this refers to the artist's performance in January last year when he responded to a spectator's shout of "Glory to Ukraine."
"I was asked to be neutral but how can I be neutral? Glory to the heroes!" the showman said during the concert.
The source says that on the eve of the concert, Galkin allegedly agreed to remove all "sharp" jokes from the program, but in the end, apparently, he changed his mind and still ridiculed the Kremlin and expressed support for Ukraine. He was fined for this immediately after the concert.
As for Andrii Danylko, according to propagandists, he was banned from entering the UAE in 2022 after a patriotic show in Dubai. At the time, Serduchka traditionally shouted anti-Russian and anti-war slogans at the corporate event. Certain authorities in the UAE allegedly did not like this either and accused the star of "inciting ethnic conflict." As a result, Andrii was fined and given an "inbound" status.
