Queen Camilla in hospital speaks about her grandchildren's health problems
The Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, Camilla, appeared at the opening of a new emergency department at one of the largest hospitals in Swindon. During the visit, Her Highness spoke with patients and staff, during which she admitted that the medical facility is of particular importance to her, as when her grandchildren have health problems, they come here first.
In addition, according to the Daily Mail, it was at the Great Western Hospital that the wife of Charles III gave birth to her first daughter, Laura Rose Lopes. The heiress to the throne was born 47 years ago, and since then Camilla has visited the hospital for the first time.
"I know quite a lot about you. You have treated many of my relatives. I am very impressed with this emergency department. I have only good feedback because I have friends who come here and grandchildren who have been here many times. I often receive photos with the caption: "Guess where I am?" In the emergency department in Swindon," Her Highness shared.
About $41 million was spent on the hospital's renovation. The emergency department has installed rooms for complex injuries, where glass doors are now placed instead of curtains, and the number of resuscitation booths has increased.
Queen Camilla toured the new ward and spoke to the staff to thank them for their hard work. She said: "I know from my own experience how you are changing this part of the country for the better. I would like to congratulate everyone who has done such a brilliant job on this place and everyone who works here."
In addition, the wife of King Charles III spoke with a young patient of the hospital. While Her Highness was walking through the corridors of the Great Western Hospital, a little girl came up to her to say hello. The child's mother explained that she had been admitted to the hospital with suspected appendicitis. After that, the royal came closer to the child and said that she would be fine because she was "in good hands."
"I thought so and realized that I hadn't been in this hospital for 47 years, since I gave birth to my daughter here. It was so long ago," the Queen said.
It is worth noting that before Camilla married Charles III, she was married to Andrew Parker Bowles. In 1974, the couple had their first child, son Tom, and in 1978, daughter Laura was born.
