31-year-old Senegalese striker Sadio Mane, who once played for Liverpool, married 19-year-old Aisha Tambe. The couple's relationship was known only to the athlete's closest friends and colleagues, and the ceremony took place without announcement on January 7.

Fans of the football star learned about the wedding after the fact when photos appeared online. According to the DailyMail, the private ceremony in Senegal was attended by relatives, friends, and colleagues of the couple.

The local media explained that "Aisha had been the destination for the 31-year-old football player since she was a teenager." To be more precise, the footballer fell in love three years ago, but did not confess his feelings to her right away.

Instead, he told his uncle about his intentions to marry her, and he arranged for her to meet him and make a match. The age of consent in Senegal is 16.

According to the footballer, fans and colleagues often asked him why he didn't get married before the age of 31. To this, the athlete replied that he wanted a wife who "prays well and respects God." Sadio Mane also assured that his wife would not be seen on social media.
