Police close investigation into Matthew Perry case: cause of death confirmed
The investigation into the death of American actor and Friends star Matthew Perry is officially over. The Los Angeles Police Department agreed with the conclusions of the doctors, which they shared after the autopsy.
This means that, according to the investigation, Matthew Perry died without outside influence, not as a result of being driven to suicide or murder. According to Pepple, the cause of the actor's death was the acute effect of ketamine, an anesthetic with a pronounced analgesic effect that causes so-called dissociative anesthesia.
The investigation agreed that coronary heart disease and the effects of buprenorphine (a synthetic drug belonging to the group of opioid analgesics - ed.) led to drowning in a Jacuzzi and contributed to the actor's accidental death.
According to the medical examiner, Perry's death was caused by "an unknown route of ketamine use." The actor was "undergoing ketamine infusion therapy," but the last course of treatment ended about a week and a half before his death.
As a reminder, the Friends star passed away prematurely on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. His body was found by his assistant, who called the emergency services.
Law enforcement officers did not find any drugs in the deceased's apartment, which the actor had been addicted to for many years. However, they did find a lot of prescription drugs, including antidepressants.
The results of the initial toxicology tests refuted the theory that Perry could have died of an overdose. Neither fentanyl nor methamphetamine was found in his system.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, a close friend of Perry's said that he had been lying to everyone, and most of all to himself, saying that he had not taken drugs for 19 months. According to the insider, the actor "has never been clean".
