Moldovan Dan Balan impressed Odesa with Ukrainian at a concert: the network called for following his example

Moldovan-born singer Dan Balan, who gave his first concert in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war on August 9, unexpectedly spoke Ukrainian on stage. The artist admitted that he was just learning the language, so he could speak with mistakes, but the online community praised his efforts and called on him to follow suit.

After the first Ukrainian word "Odesa", the audience burst into frantic shouts. Videos from the concert went viral online, particularly on TikTok.

At the beginning of the performance, Dan Balan announced that he would conduct the entire concert in Ukrainian, but sometimes he still returned to Russian words. However, he mostly tried to speak English when he had difficulty with Ukrainian.

"Odesa. There are so many emotions in this city. How do you like my Ukrainian? Today I will speak this wonderful language. I am still learning. Girls of Odesa, do you know how to dance with your hips?" the artist asked.

Judging by the video on social media, he performed English-language material and made interjections in Ukrainian at the concert.

The network highly appreciated Dan Balan's respect for the language of the country in which he performs. "It's very nice. It's respect for the country, for all of us.", "A foreigner proudly says that he will speak beautiful Ukrainian.", "Even Dan has learned it. Respect," "You're doing great," "Take an example," Ukrainians wrote.

In person, Odessans also responded favorably to the singer's speech. Some of them shouted loudly, while others offered to help with the translation of difficult words.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Dan Balan showed his mastery of the Ukrainian language before the concert when he invited the audience to the performance. This angered the Russians, as they still play the Moldovan's songs on their radio.
