Melania Trump surprised with a rare public appearance

Former US First Lady Melania Trump was spotted at the Republican National Convention on July 18. The model rarely appears in public to support Donald Trump's third presidential bid.

Melania and politician Ivanka Trump's eldest daughter, who also impressed users with her presence, largely avoided the campaign trail this year, unlike Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns, when both played a larger role. This year, neither made any speeches, the Associated Press reports.

The entrepreneur took to the stage in a red Dior suit, which she wore in 2017 for an official visit to Paris. The model's stylist Herve Pierre said: "It's nothing new – it's just a repetition. But she loves this suit. She has nice clothes, so she can repeat [looks]." Trump complemented her outfit with red Christian Louboutin stiletto heels.

Melania Trump's presence helps the Republican Party demonstrate its overall unity, which is especially emphasized after the assassination attempt on the politician's life. The day after the attack, Melania issued a statement calling on Americans to "rise above the hate and simple-minded ideas that fuel violence."

Campaigns often use spouses and families to humanize a candidate, but with Melania Trump sidelined this year, that task has fallen to other speakers who have painted a sympathetic portrait of Trump by sharing anecdotes about the warm relationship between him and their children. For example, Trump's 17-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump, called him "just a regular grandpa."
