Makarevich's wife explained the similarities between Ukraine and Israel: if the enemy threatens to kill you, you have to believe him
Ukraine and Israel have been similar to each other for the past few years because both countries are living in a time of war. However, according to Andrey Makarevich's wife, Einat Klein, a native Ukrainian and professional traveler, there are several other similarities between the two countries.
She also advised to be attentive to the enemy and believe him if he starts threatening. This will help to accept the fact that armed aggression is not far off, and a clear example of this is Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Einat Klein told OBOZ.UA about this advice in an exclusive interview.
The Ukrainian woman recalled the important words of Golda Meir, the only woman who became prime minister of Israel and survived anti-Jewish persecution as a child. She was the person who participated in the creation of Israel as a state and its recognition among world leaders. Golda became prime minister at a difficult time for the country, during the war.
"Here I cannot but agree with Golda Meir, who said: "If your enemy threatens to kill you, you have to believe him." Unfortunately, a surprising number of people did not believe the threats in 2014, and did not believe them in 2022. Now, I think the narrative in Ukraine has changed," the traveler reflected.
Now a native Ukrainian woman with a young son, Eitan, and a Russian husband who supports Ukraine in its war with Russia, she lives in Israel, a country where there is a constant threat of Hamas rocket attacks. She has realized how cruel the enemy can be, so she says she believes him when he threatens to kill.
"The same goes for Israel. On October 7, 2023, the worst catastrophe for Jews since the Holocaust occurred. I believe those who threaten to kill me, and I am completely devoid of illusions about the possibility of a settlement with an enemy whose coordinate system is different from mine. An enemy whose main goal is my death, an enemy who acts irrationally. In my opinion, in this situation, Ukraine and Israel have a lot in common, so there should be a special understanding between our countries," said Einat Klein.
