The actress Maggie Smith, the star of the Harry Potter movie, who played Professor Minerva McGonagall, was buried 5 weeks after her death. The funeral ceremony was held at the crematorium in a private setting, attended by family members, relatives and friends.

Guests were invited to attend at 16:00. As the attendees told the Daily Mail, the event was "beautiful, warm and full of laughter."

They received commemorative cards with a childhood photo of Maggie Smith on the front and a much later image on the back. In the picture, she appeared smiling. The card read: "In loving memory of Dame Margaret Natalie Smith."

"Today was such a beautiful farewell to Maggie Smith. It was warm and fun, full of love and brilliant eulogies, with the best songs sung by everyone. The farewell was touching, but not sad, because she lived such a rich life," one of the visitors shared his impressions.

As a reminder, Oscar-winning British actress Maggie Smith died on September 27 at the age of 89. She had been ill for a long time.

Born in 1934, Smith grew up in Oxford and began acting at the city's Playhouse Theater as a teenager. After appearing in a number of theater productions, she also began acting in films, landing her first significant role in Seth Holt's 1958 thriller Nowhere to Go, for which the young star was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Subsequently, Smith was invited to join the newly formed National Theater company in 1962, for which she took part in a number of productions, including Desdemona in Othello. The following year, Smith reprised the role in the film version, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.
