Lost 108 kg and gained weight again: the media learned details of the obesity fight of the son of India's richest man, the wedding rehearsal of whom was watched by the whole world
28-year-old billionaire Anant Ambani, the son of India's richest man, held a rehearsal for his upcoming wedding by throwing a lavish party. However, he had attracted the attention of the network long before that.
For many years, users have been discussing Ambani's appearance, including his figure. Since 2014, the billionaire has managed to lose 108 kg and gain weight again, the Daily Mail reports.
2014-2015: Anant begins his journey to weight loss
After battling obesity for most of his life, Ambani made the decision to lose weight in 2014, wanting to achieve results before his 21st birthday. After 18 months of hard work, the billionaire shared his impressive transformation in 2016, having lost 108 kg.
To do this, he hired the famous trainer Vinod Channa, who has worked with famous Bollywood stars. According to the expert, the biggest obstacle to losing weight was the lack of exercise and unhealthy eating habits.
Thanks to his trainer, Ambani was able to adjust his lifestyle to include fitness and walking. Anant ended up spending about five to six hours a day on exercises that were a mix of yoga and strength training.
In an interview with India Today in 2016, Vinod said that Ananth's final weight was 88 kg. He also started eating fiber-rich, low-carb, protein-rich foods.
2020: Ambani weight gain
Anant, who suffers from chronic asthma, which has prevented him from losing weight in the past, has managed to keep his weight off over the years, showing off his slim physique at a number of different events in India. However, after the footage of his girlfriend Radhika's birthday party in October 2020, people noticed a significant change in the billionaire's appearance. Anant reportedly gained weight again after being quarantined during the coronavirus pandemic.
2024: Pre-wedding extravaganza
Ananth's weight has been under scrutiny again after photos of his pre-wedding extravaganza. Many people assumed that the weight gain was the result of his asthma medication. In a 2017 interview with the Times of India, his mother explained that Ananth was taking "a lot of steroids" to cope with the disease, adding that he was also "obese."
According to Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, a surgeon and founder of the Digestive Institute, Anant tried to lose weight the same way he had before but failed. "This time it just didn't work," he says, "because his body just didn't adapt to it."
