King Frederick X appeared in public with three younger children: what all the princes and princesses of Denmark look like
King Frederik X of Denmark pleased his subjects by making a public appearance with his wife, Queen Consort Mary, and three younger children, 17-year-old Princess Isabella and 13-year-old twins Vincent and Josephine. The royal family attended a rehearsal of the Nutcracker Christmas ballet. The honored guest of the evening was the mother of the crowned king, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe, who acted as a production and costume designer.
Frederick X's son Vincent chose a white shirt and a blue suit, which he complemented with a dark coat, just like his father. Meanwhile, the king's daughters imitated Mary in their looks – Isabella wore a bright purple coat and let her hair down, while her older sister Isabella chose a gray ensemble and twisted her strands into light curls. The only one missing from the red carpet was the couple's eldest son, 19-year-old Crown Prince Christian, who became the heir to the throne when his father was crowned King of Denmark on January 14, 2024.
Crown Prince Christian of Denmark
The future heir to the throne was born on October 15, 2005, in Copenhagen. In September 2006, Danish Minister of Border Affairs Per Stig Møller officially signed a handwritten document confirming the king's son's place in the line of succession.
Christian was the first member of the Danish royal family to attend kindergarten. He was also the first Danish monarch to attend the public school Tranegord School in Hellerup. In June 2022, shortly after the end of his first year at the gymnasium, it was announced that the prince would no longer attend the school after repeated allegations of bullying and violence at the institution emerged.
Thanks to the abdication of his grandmother, Crown Prince Christian became the next in line to the throne immediately after his 18th birthday. The young man even became regent for the first time in January 2024, when his parents were on a state visit abroad.
Princess Isabella
Isabella was born on April 21, 2007. She was the first girl to be born to the Danish royal family since the birth of her great aunt, Queen Anne Marie of Greece, in 1946.
After the passage of the 2009 Danish referendum on succession (abolishing the male-favored primogeniture), Isabella became the first princess in Danish history not to be succeeded by a younger brother when Prince Vincent was born in 2011.
Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine
The twins Vincent and Josephine were born on January 8, 2011. The boy was born 26 minutes earlier than his sister, becoming the third in line to the throne. Shortly after the birth, while talking to the press, Frederik X joked that he had named his newborn son Elvis because the twins share a birthday with Elvis Presley.
