It became known which royal protocol Elizabeth II violated at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton: but she is not to blame

Why the late Queen Elizabeth II broke protocol at William and Kate's wedding

Royal events are usually subject to careful planning, but there have been many instances where mistakes have been made - some of which have gone almost unnoticed. On April 29, Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.

It was on this day that the groom's grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, made a mistake. This was reported by HELLO.

The video shows how the guest of honor arrived at the celebration. The monarch tried to tell the guardsman that he should not open the door on the other side of the vehicle. The fact is that the car stopped on the wrong side of the sidewalk near Westminster Abbey, so the Queen had to get out from the side where her husband, Prince Philip, was sitting.

Alexandra Messervy, an etiquette expert, immediately noticed the mistake. "I noticed that the car carrying the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh stopped on the wrong side of Westminster Abbey," she told the HELLO! A Right Royal podcast.

"The Queen came out the wrong way. I think the [security guard] who opened the door was nervous when the Queen actually came out the wrong way. According to the correct protocol, she should have been sitting by the side of the road, not on the back side," she adds. Messervy considers this a mistake, but not of the Queen, but of the staff. The rule has historical origins: in the days of carriages and horses, gentlemen had to go to the outside of the sidewalk and women to the other side to avoid mud.
