In 2010-14 Serhiy Lyovochkin was a member of the National Security Council of Ukraine, Committee of Economic Reforms and the National Anti-Corruption Committee. He was also responsible for the construction of the new sarcophagus over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and implementation of the nuclear nonproliferation program. He was directly involved in the preparation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.
On November 30, 2013, he tendered his resignation as head of the Presidential Administration due to his disagreement with the violent actions of law enforcement officers against Maidan activists. On 17 January 2014, his resignation was accepted.
On February 10, 2014, Serhiy Lyovochkin founded the New Ukraine Institute for Strategic Research. The institute's tasks are to develop reforms in Ukraine, solve socio-economic and humanitarian problems, and restore peace in the context of the Minsk process.
In September 2014, he was one of the founders of the Opposition Bloc party, which created its own faction in the parliament following the early parliamentary elections.
Since November 2014, Sergey Lyovochkin has been deputy chairman of the faction.
According to various sources, Lyovochkin was a co-owner of the founding company of ISD, as well as one of the founders of Ukrspecimpexbank, one of the co-founders of SP Stroyinvest and East-West Finance LLC.
Lyovochkin's father headed the State Department for Execution of Punishments.
He is married and raises a daughter and two sons.
