Brief biography of Roman Bessmertnyi

Roman Bessmertny was born in Kiev region, November 15, 1965.

Bessmertny received his higher education at the National Pedagogical University named after Dragomanov. During his studies he started working as a school teacher.

But already in 1994 Roman Bessmertny started his political career - he was successfully elected as a People's Deputy of Ukraine and entered the second convocation of the Verkhovna Rada as a nominee of the Ukrainian Republican Party.

He was one of the authors of the Ukrainian Constitution of 1996. He served in the Rada during the third, fourth and fifth convocations.

In 2004 he actively supported Viktor Yushchenko both during the presidential election and during the Orange Revolution - he was the head of Yushchenko's election headquarters, as well as of the protesters' tent city in Kiev, on Maidan Nezalezhnosti.

Roman Bessmertnyy resigned as a People's Deputy in 2007, after which he served as the Head of the Presidential Secretariat until 2009.

In 2010-2011, he was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus.

In 2015, Roman Bessmertny joined the trilateral negotiating group in the Minsk process as one of the representatives of Ukraine. He withdrew from this group in 2016.

In early July 2019, Volodymyr Zelensky again appointed Roman Bessmertny as a member of the trilateral negotiating group, in the subgroup for the resolution of political issues. However, already in August of the same year, the President of Ukraine suspended Bessmertny from his duties and removed him from this position.

Roman Bessmertny is a full holder of the Order of Ukraine "For Merit".

Scandals around Roman Bessmertny.

In 2017, Roman Bessmertny was accused of allegedly offering to negotiate directly with representatives of the occupation administrations of "L/DNR".

In 2019, Roman Bessmertny said that the occupied territory of Donbass should turn into a kind of "wild field " - Ukraine should evict its supporters from the L/DNR and prepare for the conflict to stretch for many decades.
