North Korea continues to develop programs for the creation of long-range ballistic missiles. Its efforts in this direction pose a threat not only to South Korea and Japan but also to the United States. However, the US leadership knows what to do in this regard.

This was announced by the chairman of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby. According to him, Washington has relevant intelligence information on the DPRK and is taking the necessary steps to protect its interests.

"We know that North Korea continues to develop advanced capabilities, including ballistic missiles," Kirby said but warned that he would not disclose intelligence. "Obviously, we're going to do what we have to do to make sure that we can protect the United States, protect our allies and partners," he added.

North Korea is also planning provocations aimed at the South Korean general election and the US presidential election. However, the U.S. government is working with Japan and South Korea "to have a robust capability to protect our interests." "No foreign actor should interfere in our elections, period. We will be as vigilant in this election cycle as we have been in the past, doing everything we can to detect and stop any attempts to interfere with the election," Kirby said in this regard.

Earlier, North Korea tested a new strategic cruise missile, the Pulhwasal-3-31. It is under development, and the launch "did not affect the security of neighboring countries," the DPRK said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the DPRK may attack South Korea in the coming months. North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has moved to a tougher and more hostile policy towards the neighboring country. Such rhetoric is part of provocations, but it should be taken seriously.
