Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces - sources
On the evening of January 29, it became known that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, had been dismissed from his post . This decision was made by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was stated by former MP Boryslav Bereza. This information was confirmed by OBOZ.UA's sources in Zaluzhny's team.
"My sources from the President's Office said that Zaluzhny was dismissed from the post of chief of staff! I really want the information to be unconfirmed. I really do. But this is the second source," Bereza said.
It should be emphasized that there is no official information about the dismissal of Valeriy Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, Zaluzhny has been informed of his resignation, but there is no decree yet.
He was offered the position of ambassador to one of the European countries, but he refused.
At the same time, journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk reported that the president had appointed Kyrylo Budanov to replace Valeriy Zaluzhny.
In addition, information about the alleged resignation of Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has appeared online.
The Defense Ministry issued a statement amid the rumors of resignation.
"Dear journalists, we would like to respond to all of you: No, this is not true," the statement said.
The Defense Ministry did not specify what exactly they were commenting on.
As a reminder, amid persistent rumors of strained relations between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Armed Forces Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny, official Kyiv is trying to clarify this alleged conflict. On December 5, advisor to the head of the Presidential Office Mykhailo Podolyak said that there was no reason to talk about the general's resignation, as he was clearly performing his functions.
Earlier, a scandal erupted online after MP from the Servant of the People party Mariana Bezuhla suggested that Chief of Staff Zaluzhny be dismissed because of his alleged incompetence in this position.
As reported by OBOZ.UA:
Mariana Bezuhla has become a star on Russian propaganda TV channels due to her attacks on Zaluzhny. Even in pro-Kremlin broadcasts, her statements are considered absurd and not true.
Earlier, military officer Yuriy Hudymenko said that MP Mariana Bezuhla is trying to get as much attention as possible to her person by publicly attacking the military leadership of the state. Her antics are irrational and, worst of all, harmful to the country, so they require an immediate response from the relevant structures.
