"Dropped a radio from a drone and offered to surrender": captured occupier from Irkutsk on his "combat path" in Ukraine

Occupant from Irkutsk captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have captured Anton Kozmin, a Russian occupation prisoner from the Storm Z unit. The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country persuaded him to sign a contract with its occupation army, claiming that he would dig trenches in the war in Ukraine.

However, in reality, the Russian military command sent the former prisoner to the assault group. The video of Kozmin's interrogation was obtained by OBOZ.UA.

The Russian lived in the city of Irkutsk and was imprisoned for drug trafficking. In November 2023, he signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. The occupier told us how it happened.

"Representatives of the Ministry of Defense came and offered to sign a contract for a year. They said that we would dig trenches (in the war in Ukraine - Ed.) and stand on the defense line. At the end of October, I signed the contract, and in November, they took me away. I was at the training ground for two weeks, then they sent me to Marinka, where I was wounded. I was in the hospital for a month, then they sent me to storm Krasnohorivka. There we were surrounded and surrendered," the Russian occupier said.

Kozmin said that the commander sent him and four other people to assault, which ended in failure. The occupants were under the gun of UAVs and mortars of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

"We ran (to assault - Ed.) and the UAVs started working. Then a mortar started firing, killing one guy and hitting me a little. I ran into the dugout, there were two dead and one wounded. We were sitting in the dugout with him. An hour later, they dropped the radio (Ukrainian military - Ed.) from the drone, came to us and offered to surrender... We talked on the radio and they promised that no one would touch us and we would just go for an exchange. They organized the exit and that was it," he said.
