"Very interesting prospects": Johnson assures that Ukraine has the ability to return occupied Crimea

Johnson speaks about Ukraine's chances to return Crimea and win the war

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is confident that Ukraine has a chance to return Crimea, and that during the two years of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrainians have managed to convince the world that Russia is very vulnerable on the occupied peninsula. The politician also explained what Ukraine needs to liberate Crimea, which has been occupied since 2014.

At the same time, he does not rule out the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be planning to attack NATO countries. Johnson said this during his visit to Ukraine, timed to coincide with the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale aggression.

The former head of the British government stated that over the two years of the great war, the world's perception of the possibility of de-occupying Crimea has undergone a tectonic shift. If earlier the world was convinced that it was impossible to liberate the Ukrainian peninsula, that Putin would never give up Crimea, and therefore it was not even worth trying to recapture it, now everything has changed.

Thanks to Ukraine's operations on the peninsula, more and more people are realizing that the de-occupation of Crimea is real. The fact that Ukrainian soldiers have shown how vulnerable Russia is on the peninsula has contributed to this. In terms of logistics and infrastructure of Russian troops, Johnson believes that the Defense Forces on the peninsula have "great capabilities."

And they can be realized and Crimea can be de-occupied only if Ukraine's combat capabilities are increased.

"When Ukraine has more long-range missiles, more HIMARS, ATACMS, Storm Shadow, and everything the Armed Forces need, Crimea will have very interesting prospects," Johnson emphasized.

He also noted that the current achievements of Ukrainians on the battlefield prove that: Ukraine is capable of defeating Russia. In particular, he pointed out that the Defense Forces have already destroyed two Russian armies and liberated more than half of the territories occupied by Russia.

"It is now obvious to the world that Ukrainians believe in their country. And that is why you will win," Johnson said.

At the same time, he believes that fears of a possible Russian attack on NATO countries in the future are justified.

"Yes, he (Putin - Ed.) can attack. I think it cannot be ruled out," Johnson said.

As an argument in favor of the existence of such a threat, the politician cited the Russian dictator's interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

"For example, I didn't like the way he talked about Poland in his terrible interview. And I think he might try to do something like that," Johnson explained.

The former British prime minister also noted that the threat of a Russian attack on NATO countries will increase if the West allows Putin to win an aggressive war against Ukraine.

"Therefore, he must not succeed. He must fail," Johnson stated.

Earlier, the former head of the British government had already spoken out about Putin's interview with Carlson. Johnson called the interview "ridiculous" and noted that the American "betrayed his viewers" around the world.

The politician also noted that Putin's statements about history and the alleged injustice against Russian-speaking people resonate with Hitler's stories about German-speaking people.
