"This is for Dnipro": Ukraine's Air Force hints at the culprit responsible for two Russian aircraft downing over the Sea of Azov
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk made an interesting hint regarding the destruction of an important Russian military target: it is allegedly a response to the enemy's missile attack on a house in Dnipro a year ago. He did so after news of the downing of two Russian aircraft appeared online.
The post was published on his official Telegram channel on the morning of January 15. It also includes a photo of a Dnipro house destroyed by the aggressor.
"This is for Dnipro! Burn in hell, you inhumans!" Oleshchuk wrote under the photo, dated January 14, 2023.
He did not say what exactly he was talking about but added , "No details yet."
After Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi confirmed the information about the downing of two Russian aircraft, Oleshchuk published another post.
"Well, friends, the Sea of Azov is cleaner than ever! We are preparing for the beach season on its coast. Thanks to everyone who planned, organized and directly participated in the operation to destroy the occupiers' aircraft! There is definitely not enough space on the deck of the Moscow cruiser. We continue the "Eternal flight, brothers" trend. To be continued... Together to victory!" he wrote.
As a reminder, on the evening of January 14, the media reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had shot down two Russian aircraft over the Sea of Azov. Previously, the defenders shot down an A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft and damaged an Il-22 bomber of the Russian army.
On the same day, a memorial service was held in Dnipro, during which citizens and government officials honored the victims of a Russian missile attack on a nine-story building on January 14, 2023. Then the occupiers hit the house, where about 1700 people lived, with an X-22 cruise missile and destroyed two entrances, killing 46 civilian Ukrainians, including six children. More than 80 other people were injured, and hundreds of residents lost their homes and cars.
The 52nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, based in Shaykovka, was involved in this terrorist act. Last year, investigators named 44 of its servicemen who were directly involved in the execution of the criminal order.
For its part, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has announced a war crime suspicion against the regiment's commander. In addition to the bombing of the house in Dnipro, he was also involved in Russian missile attacks on the Riviera shopping center in Odesa, the city house of culture in Lozova (Kharkiv region), the Amstor shopping center in Kremenchuk (Poltava region), and the Goji house and recreation center in Serhiivka (Odesa region), which resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.
As reported, on December 24, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Su-34 fighter jet and a Su-30SM bomber of the Russian occupation army. The defenders shot them down in the Mariupol and Odesa directions, respectively.
