Occupants ban the activities of the UGCC in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia

The Russian occupation forces have banned the activities of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region. The Russians falsely claimed that explosives and firearms were allegedly stored on the territory of religious buildings.

The "order" was published on the website of the governor of Zaporizhzhia region Yevhen Balytsky, the press service of the UGCC reported. It is noted that the work of the Knights of Columbus and Caritas organizations engaged in social service is also prohibited.

It is interesting that the document is dated December 2022, but the UGCC has learned about it only now. The "order" of the occupiers also states that the church "violates the legislation on religious and public organizations of the Russian Federation."

In addition, the Greek Catholic Church was accused of:

- "participation of parishioners in mass riots and anti-Russian rallies in March-April 2022",

- "distribution of literature calling for the violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation",

- "active participation of communities of Zaporizhzhia region in the activities of extremist organizations and propaganda of neo-Nazi ideas" and so on.

The occupiers also decided to:

- transfer all the property of the UGCC to the "authorities",

- terminate all leases of premises and land plots with the UGCC,

- to prohibit the registration of a religious community with the "authorities",

- to prohibit persons who held senior positions in the UGCC from registering public and religious organizations in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- After the shooting of Russian servicemen in Mariupol, the Russian special services began a "hunt" for members of the resistance movement. For this purpose, the occupiers are conducting various "events" and engaging their agents - not only real partisans, but also all residents of the TOT who remained loyal to Ukraine are under threat.

- The occupiers are building a network of militarized clubs among Ukrainian teenagers in the occupied territories. In particular, in Luhansk, in a "military sports training center" based on a pseudo-college, they plan to "brainwash" and prepare children as young as 14 years old for service in the Russian Armed Forces.
