Sweden plans to increase production of 155-mm ammunition for Ukraine

Sweden plans to increase the production of 155-mm artillery ammunition and supply it to Ukraine. The Swedish Defense Property Administration (DPA) has already signed an agreement with ammunition manufacturer Nammo.

This is stated on the website of DPA. The proposed investment is funded partly by the Swedish government and partly by the EU under the ASAP program. The plan will be implemented provided that the EU allocates funds in the first quarter of 2024.

Jonas Lotzne, Head of the Armaments business area at AOM, said that the company is now taking the next important step to accelerate investment in the industry's production capacity.

"This will shorten the delivery time, increase our ability to support Ukraine and at the same time strengthen the security of artillery ammunition supply in Sweden and the Nordic region in the long term," he said.

Earlier, Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström warned that the aggressor country Russia would remain a serious threat to the security of all European states in the future. He called on Europe to be prepared for a long confrontation with Moscow. The Minister assured that Sweden's military and political support for Ukraine will continue.
