Russia categorically rejects any "freezing" of the war in Ukraine, – Naryshkin

Sergey Naryshkin, Vladimir Putin

Russia "categorically rejects" any freeze on the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin insists on the ultimatum previously issued by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Moscow claims that the ceasefire is allegedly being talked about only in the West, and only because "the Russian Federation has full control of the initiative at the front." These statements were made by the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

He said that Russia is not interested in a ceasefire in Ukraine.

"Russia categorically rejects any "freezing" of the Ukrainian conflict," Naryshkin said on November 26 after a meeting of heads of security and intelligence services of the CIS countries in Moscow.

He also suggested that the West allegedly needs a "freeze" because Russia is allegedly winning on all fronts.

"Such discussions in Western capitals are due to the fact that the strategic initiative on the battlefield is entirely owned by the Russian army. The countries of the Western bloc are experiencing a fiasco in the conflict in Ukraine, but we believe they will not be complacent. They will act in their own way and try to create chaos on the territory of our [Commonwealth] states, chaos around the Russian Federation. We have already gotten used to such actions on the part of the Western bloc and have gained a certain immunity," Naryshkin emphasized.

Also, according to him, "Western capitals have really stopped thinking about the task of a strategic defeat for Russia," because "the West is interested in not suffering a strategic defeat itself and preserving the Russophobic regime in Kyiv."

Despite the fact that it is the Kremlin that regularly makes veiled requests for negotiations, according to the director of the SZR, Russia needs these talks only if Ukraine fulfills Putin's ultimatums.

"Russia is open to negotiations, and the terms of such negotiations were announced by the Russian president back in June during a meeting with the senior staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry," Naryshkin said.

Then Putin put forward his "conditions for the start of peace talks" with Ukraine the day before the Peace Summit in Switzerland, on June 14, at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry leadership. He issued an ultimatum that called for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from all four regions of Ukraine and Kyiv's refusal to join NATO.

He also repeated the usual Kremlin mantra that Kyiv and its Western partners should agree to Putin's ultimatums as soon as possible. The sooner the Western countries "realize the benefits of Russia's proposed terms on Ukraine," he said, the "better it will be for them, Ukraine and Russia."

"We need a lasting and long-term peace for many years to come. And this peace must be secured first and foremost for us - for Russia, for the citizens of the Russian Federation. But this peace must also be secured for the entire European continent," Naryshkin summarized.

Earlier, The Guardian published an article with arguments in favor of Putin's decision to start negotiations in early 2025.

Already, food prices in Russia are rising by 9% per month, and interest rates are exceeding 20%. In addition, the stockpile of Soviet weapons may be exhausted by the end of 2025.

In addition, there are people in the environment of the newly elected US President Donald Trump who can agree to the demands of the Russian Federation. In particular, it is about the aggressor retaining control over the occupied territories of Ukraine.
