"Putin is begging for negotiations": Head of the NSDC's CCD assesses Lukashenko's activation
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, responded to the latest statements and threats by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. According to him, the narratives voiced by Lukashenka indicate that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is "begging for negotiations."
Kovalenko published the statement on his official Telegram channel on August 18. "If we translate everything Lukashenko said into human language, this is a signal that Putin is already begging for negotiations," he wrote.
The head of the CCD explained: "Lukashenko's long speech" implies that the goal of Putin's "SVO" has already been "achieved."
It should be noted that on August 18, the Belarusian dictator gave an interview to the Kremlin's Rossiya-1 TV channel, in which he issued another batch of pro-Russian narratives and threats.
In particular, Lukashenko called Russia's war against Ukraine a "scuffle" and said it was time to end it and sit down at the negotiating table.
He also announced that Ukraine has allegedly "already been denazified" and "there are no Nazis there," although Russia has allegedly "not yet started fighting for real," but escalation could end in the "destruction" of Ukraine.
In addition, he threatened that Ukraine, by attacking the Kursk region, might be trying to provoke Russia to use nuclear weapons, while admitting that this is counterproductive, to put it mildly, and will lead to irreversible consequences for the aggressor country.
According to the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Minsk was allegedly "forced" to move "almost a third of its army" to the border with Ukraine, and the defense of Belarus' western border "if necessary" could be changed to offensive actions.
As OBOZ.UA wrote, in May 2024, Reuters reported, citing sources in the Russian Federation, that Putin was ready to start negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, provided that Kyiv recognized the "borders" along the current front line. The Kremlin leader believes that Russia's successes are sufficient to "sell" the victory to Russians, and he does not want to bring the situation to the point of mobilization, which is unpopular among the Russian population.
