Lytvynenko: Putin may order to use nuclear weapons if Russian army is defeated in Ukraine
If the Russian occupation army fails in the war against Ukraine, dictator Vladimir Putin may order the use of nuclear weapons. In this case, we may be talking about tactical nuclear weapons directed against Ukraine.
At the same time, the Kremlin killer is unlikely to dare to use strategic weapons because he fears the outbreak of World War III. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko told The Times.
According to him, Putin may order the use of tactical nuclear weapons if the Russian army is defeated in Ukraine. The NSDC Secretary emphasized that Russian officials have repeatedly threatened to launch nuclear weapons at Ukraine or Western countries since the invasion in 2022.
Despite the fact that the West considers Putin's threats to be a bluff and is confident that Russia will not dare to take such a step, Lytvynenko warned that no scenario can be ruled out.
"We cannot rule out anything if Russia is on the verge of a catastrophic defeat. Such a defeat could provoke the collapse of Russian front lines, army desertions and protests in Moscow. But it is unlikely that Putin will use nuclear weapons while Russia has the advantage in the war," Lytvynenko said.
At the same time, the National Security and Defense Council Secretary doubts that the Russian dictator will use strategic nuclear weapons, which would almost certainly provoke a third world war. Lytvynenko also argues that Russia's defeat on the battlefield will not automatically lead to Moscow's use of nuclear weapons, as Putin may try to convince his people that such a reversal is actually a "victory."
"We have two very important military tasks. The first is to stop the Russians on the front line, and the second is to strike deep into Russia. Our goal is the critical infrastructure that allows Russia to wage war," Lytvynenko said.
As a reminder, NATO is negotiating the deployment of more nuclear weapons amid growing threats from Russia and China. The Alliance is confident that they must show the world their nuclear arsenal to "send a direct message to their enemies."
Earlier it was reported that at a meeting with propagandists on June 5, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin once again threatened to use nuclear weapons and called on the West "not to take the nuclear doctrine of the aggressor country lightly."
