Iran has recently supplied Russia with Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles capable of delivering a 150 kg warhead at a range of up to 120 km. These deliveries will enhance Russia's ability to conduct precision strikes on targets near the front line and allow the aggressor to retain most of its long-range capabilities to strike targets deep in Ukraine.

This is stated in the UK military intelligence report published on September 13. The agency recalled that the Fath-360 was first publicly demonstrated in 2020.

The Fath-360 (also known as BM-120) is capable of delivering a 150 kg warhead over a distance of up to 120 km with a claimed accuracy of less than 30 meters.

It can be deployed on a variety of mobile launchers, including one capable of launching up to six missiles, the report said.

British intelligence also recalled that to date, Iran's military assistance to the Russian Federation in its war against Ukraine has included the supply of hundreds of unilateral UAVs, artillery ammunition, and extensive support for the production of Russian drones.

The supply of ballistic missiles is a further deepening of military relations between Iran and Russia, the report also notes.

"The supply of Iranian ballistic missiles will complement and strengthen Russia's ability to conduct precision strikes against Ukrainian military objectives or civilian infrastructure near the front line, and will allow Russia to retain most of its long-range capabilities for use against targets located deep in Ukraine," the British intelligence service said.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, last week the media reported that Russia had received the first batch of short-range ballistic missiles from Iran. According to preliminary data, it is a delivery of more than 200 missiles.

The United States said it was "alarmed" by the strengthening of cooperation between Iran and Russia in the field of arms. According to US National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett, the transfer of ballistic missiles will mark a sharp escalation of the war in Ukraine.

On September 8, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the allegations of the transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia were "groundless" and that military cooperation between Iran and Russia had been going on even before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The ministry also stated that Iran "has never been a part of the Russian-Ukrainian war" and supports a political settlement.

On September 9, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's Charge d'Affaires in Ukraine and expressed "deep concern" over reports that Iran might be supplying ballistic missiles to Russia.

The ISW pointed out that Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles is part of deepening its strategic partnership with Russia. Tehran is interested in financial injections from Russia, receiving Su-35 fighters, as well as assistance in modernizing its cyber capabilities and space and missile programs.
