Four Russian Su-34s in two days: how Ukrainian air defense surpassed its success in Bryansk region

Ukrainian air defense shoots down four Russian Su-34s in two days

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have dealt a significant blow to the combat potential of the Russian army by shooting down four Su-34 aircraft of the aggressor state. These aircraft are among the most modern fighter-bombers of the Russian Federation, the number and production capabilities of which are limited.

This is stated in a message from the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, published on Monday, December 25, on Facebook. The institution emphasized that the destruction of enemy aircraft is a great success, as the attacks of the occupiers' aircraft cause serious damage at the front and losses in the rear.

The Center also noted that by shooting down these four enemy aircraft, Ukrainian air defense forces surpassed their success in destroying Su-35 and Su-34 aircraft and two Mi-8MTPR-1 helicopters over the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation in May 2023.

"The Patriot air defense system is proving its effectiveness on the battlefield," the agency emphasized.

They added that an increase in the number of units of these air defense systems in Ukraine's arsenal can really bring the victory of our country closer, and most importantly, save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

"The expected transfer of the first 18 F-16 fighters to Ukraine by the Netherlands will significantly improve the statistics of destroyed enemy targets," the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security summarized.

As a reminder, four units of army aviation crashed in the Bryansk region of the aggressor state of Russia during the day: two Mi-8 helicopters, as well as Su-34 and Su-35 attack aircraft. It happened in May 2023.

One of the helicopters went down near Klintsy, the other near the village of Volkustychi in the Unetsky district. The Su-34 was burning up in Istrovka, Starodubsky municipal district, and the Su-35 crashed in the village of Shkryabin. All crew members died on the spot.

On December 24, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down a Su-34 fighter and a Su-30SM bomber at the Mariupol and Odesa directions, respectively. These losses were confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the morning of December 25.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had canceled three Russian Su-34 bombers in southern Ukraine. They took off to attack the positions of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kherson region.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Russian pilots against attempts to attack Ukraine, reminding them that over the past week, the defenders of Ukrainian skies have shot down five invaders' warplanes.
