"Forget about Game of Thrones": AFU on Ukrainian fortifications along the frontline

The Defense Forces said that Ukrainian soldiers continue to build fortifications at the front. In general, there are several levels of defense that are closer or further from the contact line.

This was stated by Dmytro Lykhovii, spokesman for the Tavria Brigade, during a TV marathon on Monday, March 4. He noted that in times of war, there are never too many fortifications, but they cannot be thought of as the wall from the TV series Game of Thrones, for example.

According to the military, the process of building fortifications is ongoing and regional military administrations, the command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and engineering units of mechanized infantry brigades are engaged in this.

"It should be understood that this cannot be a wall like in Game of Thrones. What has already been created or is still being strengthened is a huge network of reserve positions, platoon strongholds, trenches hundreds of meters long with firing cells, and floor slots, sometimes with armored safety capsules. There are caponiers for tanks, anti-tank ditches, and minefields," the speaker said.

The representative of the Tavria unit said that such fortifications are located in hot areas both near the contact line and on the second or third line of defense.

According to Lykhovii, these are the structures that the enemy may encounter in the event of a further offensive.

As reported, Ukrainian troops continue to carry out engineering works near the village of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, located 5 kilometers from the front line in the Bakhmut direction. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are confident that the fortifications will not allow Russian troops to take a "light walk."
