Formerly famous gymnast becomes a laughingstock online

Alina Kabayeva, the 2004 Athens Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics who is said to be the mistress of Russian President Vladimir Putin, received a round of unflattering comments from fans after her performance at the rhythmic gymnastics tournament at the CIS Games in Minsk. Kabayeva, 40, said that non-compliance with sporting principles is destroying sport.

As an example, she recalled her performance at the 1998 European Championships in Portugal, where she won. One of her highest marks was given by Irina Leparskaya from Belarus.

"She said that she couldn't give me a lower score because I did well, and I am very grateful to her for that. Unfortunately, there is no such judgement now. I believe that everything should be done on a sporting basis, which is what we used to do. And if we don't do things according to the sports principle, we will simply destroy our sport. And on the world stage, we will lose to everyone," the former gymnast said in an interview with TASS propagandists.

Sports fans from Russia ridiculed Kabayeva's passage, reminding her of her status as a "first lady".

"The absolute uno number in the track record of the escort queen Viner is talking about principles," users mocked.

Kabayeva was also reminded of her doping scandal, when in 2001 she was stripped of all her World Cup awards and suspended for a year after being caught taking furosemide.

Commentators are confident that Russia will not see any victories in the near future and wonder what international arena she is talking about.

Alina is offered the opportunity to hold elections "on a fair basis".

The fans could not help but speak out against her "boyfriend".
