"She is very much prone to propaganda": Russian Olympic champion calls famous Canadian figure skater crazy
Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilev insulted Canadian ex-figure skater Meagan Duhamel, who criticized Russians with the words "what's wrong with these people." The former biathlete not only called the North American a sick person but also repeated a whole set of propaganda narratives.
Vasilev said this in an interview with the R-Sport news agency, commenting on the disqualification of Kamila Valieva. The winner of the Sarajevo '84 and Calgary '88 Games accused Duhamel of not considering the opinions of "experts who say that things are not so clear."
"There are a lot of crazy people in the West. She belongs to this category. She is very much prone to harsh propaganda. They have a one-sided presentation of information, there are no alternative sources to analyze whether it is true or not. They are not even trying to translate some other experts who say that it is not so clear. It is dumb to pay attention to her," Vasilev said.
The day before, the International Skating Union (ISU) deprived the Russian national team of the gold medal at the 2022 Olympics in the team figure skating competition. However, they left the Russian representatives with the bronze medal. This happened after Valiyeva was disqualified for four years.
