In Thailand, 29-year-old Paralympic swimmer Chaturong Suksuk shot and killed his 44-year-old fiancée Kanchana Pachunthuek and three other people, then committed suicide on their wedding day, the BBC reports. According to local police, the bride's mother, 62-year-old Kingthong Klajoho, and her 38-year-old sister, Kornnipa Manato, were killed. Two other guests were wounded by so-called "stray" bullets.

Both were taken to the hospital. One of them, 50-year-old Thong Nonkhunthod, could not be saved.

According to law enforcement officials, Chaturong "was heavily intoxicated," but his motives remain unclear. They added that he had bought weapons and ammunition legally last year.

Thai media outlets, citing police accounts of the party guests, reported that the couple had an argument during the party. It was also noted that Chaturong felt insecure because of the age difference between him and Kanchana.

However, police said it was still speculation, adding that they had gathered evidence and expected to close the case "soon." According to Thai media, Chaturong and Kanchana lived together for three years before getting married.

Last year, Chaturong won a silver medal in swimming at the ASEAN Paralympic Games in Indonesia. It was believed that he would also be on the list of athletes participating in the World Sports Games to be held in Thailand next month.

He lost his right leg while serving in a paramilitary light infantry unit that patrols Thailand's borders.
