The cessation of hostilities should not mean a freezing of the war, Scholz stressed

Ukraine is ready for a "peaceful solution" to the conflict with Russia, but not for conditions to be dictated by the aggressor country. The cessation of hostilities should not mean the freezing of the war.

This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski in Berlin on May 14. In particular, the politician commented on Brazil's "peace initiatives."

"We need to say everywhere that Ukraine is ready for peace, but it is rightfully and with our full support demanding that this should not mean simply freezing the conflict and that Russia will dictate terms," Scholz stressed.

He added that "it's good when other countries also make efforts for peace, but they have to keep in mind that it can't be against Ukraine".
