The Ministry of Defence explains what Ukraine will get from the NATO summit

At the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, Ukraine will receive an algorithm for joining this military and political alliance. And after the war is over, the country will become a NATO member.

This belief was expressed by Deputy Defence Minister Volodymyr Havrylov. His words were quoted on the ministry's Telegram channel.

In his commentary, the military veteran and diplomat noted that at the July summit, NATO states "will come up with a certain procedure for Ukraine's accession", which "will be fixed".

Despite the consensus decision-making mechanism and the veto power of NATO member states, he believes that there are unlikely to be major problems with making such a decision regarding our country.

"There is every indication that Ukraine will get what it wants in a certain format," Havrylov explained.

"Already at the Vilnius summit, Ukraine should clearly understand that after the war, say within a year or two, after certain procedural things are done, we will be NATO members," the deputy defence minister said.

Some experts are convinced that after the NATO summit, Ukraine will be subject to a so-called Kyiv Treaty, modelled on Israel. Read more about the security guarantees that our partners are preparing for our country before joining NATO.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that until the war is over, the issue of Ukraine in NATO is not on the agenda. However, he stressed that thanks to Western weapons and training, our country is getting closer to NATO standards.
