A comet that appears once every 80,000 years, C/2023 A3, was captured during an explosion on the Sun. The video captures the coronal mass ejecta crashing into the comet, also known as Cuchinshan Atlas.

According to the researchers, when the explosion occurred on the Sun, the tailed traveler, by coincidence, came into view of the SOHO satellite coronagraph, which monitors these solar events. The instruments create an eclipse, allowing them to capture the extremely hot solar corona and everything that happens around it, IflScience notes.

Last week, sunspot AR 3842 triggered the most powerful flare in seven years - X9.05 and this week it exploded with new power for two days in a row - X2.1 and X1.8.

According to scientists, the Sun has triggered several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) - rapid eruptions of plasma that have been directed toward Earth. Comet Csuchinshan-Atlas is in the path of the latest CME, as it is now on its way to its closest passage near Earth.

According to scientists, comet C/2023 A3 can now be seen at sunset, which illuminates it and makes it extremely bright.

And from October 12 to October 15, Comet Csuchinshan-Atlas will come the closest to Earth in its entire journey. The comet will be at a distance of approximately 70.6 million kilometers from our planet, which will allow us to see it with the naked eye.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Ukrainians have a chance to see the "comet of the century" C/2023 A3, which is already flying around our planet.

Also, OBOZ.UA wrote that two powerful X-flares occurred on the Sun.
