Russia names the closest date for its return to UEFA and FIFA tournaments
Vyacheslav Koloskov, Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), expressed confidence that Russian representatives will not be allowed at international tournaments in the near future. According to him, this will definitely not happen as long as the aggressor country is continuing its criminal war against Ukraine.
Koloskov said this in an interview with Championship.com. The official, who made Russia the successor to the USSR in world football, also opposed the transition of the RFU to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), recalling the sanctions against Russia by the International Federation (FIFA).
"My personal calculations are as follows: as soon as the SMO (as Russian people shamefully call the war against Ukraine - ed.) ends, we will be allowed in two years. I have met with many, I have seen everything and I know everything. People forget that not only UEFA, but also FIFA introduced sanctions against us, so we can't play anywhere. Even if we move to Asia, it doesn't mean we will play. It is FIFA that imposes sanctions. This is the first formal argument, but it is a deadly one," Koloskov said.
