Looking for something nice to watch this weekend? How about a romantic comedy series with a star-studded cast and a completely unconventional plot?

According to the latest rankings, the show Nobody Wants This has overtaken the high-profile crime drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story to secure No.1 place in the top 10 Netflix shows. It stars Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and Adam Brody (The Lonely Hearts Club), and critics rated it 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The ten episodes of the show tell the story of a rather unusual couple. Joanne runs a frank sex podcast and does not hide her agnostic views. One day at a party, she meets an attractive bearded stranger named Noah, who turns out to be a rabbi. He holds unconventional views on Judaism, and they begin a romantic relationship. But their radically different outlooks on life begin to put the couple in rather awkward situations, especially when it comes to communicating with relatives.

The series was created by Erin Foster, with the help of a creative team led by American Family writer Steven Levitan. Critics have been praising the witty dialogues and offbeat storylines based on reflections on the role of spirituality and religion in modern life. The characters, who are trying their best to build a relationship, have to make non-trivial compromises to win the right to be together even despite such a huge difference in their views. And this delighted the audience, who got a fresh and unusual show on such a seemingly common and deeply researched topic.
