Never buy them: the worst American cars are named

Rating of unreliable cars

Thanks to numerous studies, surveys, and test drives, buying a car today is less risky than in the pre-Internet era. However, no one is immune to unpleasant surprises, and often after buying a car, you have to spend extra money on repairs.

Experts have ranked the worst American car models that have numerous performance and reliability problems. These vehicles can constantly drain your wallet due to maintenance or repair problems, and they also quickly lose value.

Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 is advised to be avoided if possible. According to a Money Inc. review, the Chrysler 300 lags behind its competitors in technology. The car is quite unreliable and has problems with breakdowns much more often than other models in this class. And, frankly, the design already seems a bit outdated compared to new models. Experts say that despite the inflated cost of the Chrysler 300, you'll have to sweat a lot to find spare parts.

Buick Encore GX

According to an analysis by Consumer Reports, Buick made TopSpeed's list of the "15 Most Unreliable Car Brands of 2023" with a predicted reliability rating of 54 out of 100. The 2023 Encore GX was named one of the worst models to buy. Problems include high average maintenance costs, frequent brake, engine, and fuel system problems.

Ford Explorer

The Explorer was included in the Torque News list. According to this review, the Explorer has an overly high price for a regular 3-row SUV, which makes it not a good choice compared to other models. The car has problems with reliability and performance. Add to this a not very stylish and high-quality interior, and you get a far from competitive Ford Explorer.

Dodge Caravan

This vehicle ranked first on Money's list of cars to avoid, mainly because of poor performance and low fuel efficiency. The car has slow acceleration, despite a fairly powerful engine. In addition, the Caravan is known for its poor fuel economy.

Cadillac XT4 Sport

The XT4 Sport was included in the list of outsiders in the Motor1 rating. Experts say that there are "no good reasons" to choose the Cadillac XT4 over the similarly priced BMW X3, Genesis GV70, and Lexus NX. Among the problems of the XT4 are a low-quality engine and a cramped interior.

Lincoln Aviator

When choosing a car of this class, you want to hope for safety, comfort, and reliability. However, in the TopSpeed rating, the Lincoln Aviator received a predicted reliability score of 54/100. The worst models are the 2023 and 2021 Aviators. Problems range from electronics and drive systems to suspension, steering, paint, trim, seals, and electrical systems.
