Extra virgin olive oil tastes amazing and is beneficial to the human body. You can use it to dress salads, add it to sauces, and even use it in baking.

However, manufacturers may try to extend the shelf life of such oil by using various chemicals. At the same time, they deprive the product of all the nutrients and flavor it contains. Therefore, it is very important to be able to distinguish real olive oil from the one that has been chemically processed. The Telegraph explains how to do it correctly.

Experts say that oil packaging should contain the date of pressing. This date should not be older than 15 months. If you see only the date of production, the oil was likely produced at least 18 months before it was bottled.

The packaging of the oil is also extremely important. It should only be purchased in a bottle made of metal or dark, almost opaque glass. Exposure to sunlight can not only reduce its benefits for the body but also spoil the product altogether.

It is also important to understand that not only Italy is a producer of high-quality olive oil. The best quality product can also be found among producers from Hovatia and Greece. Oil from these countries may be a little cheaper than Italian, but it also has excellent quality and incredible taste.
