How to extend the working hours of a power bank: basic tips
In Ukraine, power outages are no longer a surprise. But Ukrainians have adapted and learned to live in these difficult conditions.
Nowadays, everyone has at least a power bank in their home. Since it is a very useful thing, you want to keep it in good condition as long as possible, so OBOZ.UA shares some tips on how to do this.
After purchase, fully discharge and charge the device three times
As soon as you buy a device, discharge it to 0% and then charge it to 100% three times. This will allow you to reach the maximum capacity of the device.
Always charge the power bank to the maximum
Always try to charge your power bank to 100% continuously, as only half-charging it will negatively affect its durability. Remember that every battery has a set number of charging cycles before it starts to deteriorate.
Do not discharge the battery completely
Just like phone batteries, power bank batteries wear out much faster if you regularly discharge them to a critical state.
Calibrate your device every few months
Every few months, discharge and charge your power bank from 0% to 100%. This will help calibrate its performance.
Remove the power bank from charging on time
After charging is complete, the batteries gradually release energy and recharge again if the charger is not disconnected. Since the battery cycles are not infinite, it is best to avoid this and unplug the power bank when it is fully charged.
Use high-quality chargers
A lot of modern devices fail because of poor quality chargers. In some cases, they can even explode.
It's also important to choose an adapter that matches the current required to charge the battery.
Do not store a fully charged power bank for a long time
If you are sure that you will not use the power bank for several days, it is better to discharge it to 70-80%.
Do not use the battery while charging
Using batteries while they are charging negatively affects their condition. Therefore, it is better to wait until it is fully charged or unplug it.
Do not allow the power bank to overheat
Temperature conditions have a great impact on the operation of any device with a battery. Extreme heat can reduce battery capacity and shorten battery life. Therefore, you should not carry it in your pocket in the summer or leave it in the sun.
