Vanuatu, a country in the South Pacific, is known for its picturesque beaches and natural landscapes. However, despite its rich tourism potential, it remains a little-known destination.

The country, consisting of more than 80 islands, offers a secluded vacation amidst tropical nature and a friendly atmosphere. With a population of about 300 thousand people and a name that means "our land forever" in Melanesian, Vanuatu has ideal conditions for relaxation, Express.co.uk writes.

The most favorable season lasts from April to October when the temperature ranges from 18 to 28 °C.

Despite its attractive climate, Vanuatu received only 65 thousand tourists in 2022. This is a very modest figure compared to neighboring Fiji, which is visited by millions of people every year. In terms of tourist popularity, Vanuatu remains the fifth least-visited country in the world.

History of Vanuatu

The population of Vanuatu is culturally diverse, combining indigenous Melanesian communities and immigrants from Australia, New Zealand, China, and Vietnam. English and French have remained since the days of joint British-French administration of the country before independence in 1980.

Vanuatu is famous for its rich cultural heritage: local holidays and rituals are closely linked to legends, and dances and masks have an important ritual significance. Tourists can learn about the traditional way of life by visiting villages located in the depths of the islands.

Tourist spots

Fascinating natural locations attract travelers looking for a unique experience. On Tanna Island, you can see the active volcano Mount Yasur, and for diving enthusiasts, an unforgettable adventure will be diving into the wreck of the SS "President Coolidge."

Known for its tranquility and beauty, the beaches of Pentecost Island are ideal for those looking for a getaway away from the hustle and bustle. From white sand to tropical forests and waterfalls, the conditions are right for immersing yourself in nature and culture.

You can get to Vanuatu via Australia or New Zealand, where flights to the capital, Port Vila, are available. Domestic flights are operated by Air Vanuatu.

Given the unique opportunities for active and ecological tourism, Vanuatu has every chance to become a more popular destination.
