Can you sing carols to girls and adults: what the church says

According to Ukrainian tradition, young boys and children used to go caroling on Christmas Eve. However, the idea that girls and adults are forbidden to do so is a misconception.

OBOZREVATEL investigated this tradition. The church does not prohibit women from participating in this event.

It is believed that everyone can sing carols. This includes not only girls but also the elderly.

Musicians are also welcome to join the carolers, especially violinists, as they make the Christmas songs sound even more festive.

It is customary to start caroling from January 6 (if you celebrate Christmas on January 7) until January 14 or even January 19.

Carols are ritual songs traditionally sung by children and young people, containing wishes for health, wealth, and a good harvest for the next year.
