Women's relay at the 1st stage of the Biathlon World Cup: Ukraine's place
Ukraine's women's biathlon team failed in the relay at the first stage of the World Cup, which is taking place these days in Östersund, Sweden. Coach Mykola Zots's team showed neither accuracy nor speed and finished 12th.
Our team included debutant Khrystyna Dmytrenko, as well as Daria Blashko, Anna Kryvonis and Iryna Petrenko. Already in the first stage, Dmytrenko had to use two additional rounds, which put the Ukrainians far behind the leader group.
Blashko, who was the next to compete, lost control of her emotions and was forced to go to the penalty lap, which dropped the blue and yellows to the penultimate place. Kryvonos managed to improve the team's position by three positions and passed the baton to the experienced Petrova in 14th.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian biathlete Artem Prpma failed to pass the baton in the race at the first stage of the World Cup - he did not have enough space in a special corridor where the participants of the race are changed. And Khrystyna Dmytrenko talked about what happened to her in the individual race.
