Why spathiphyllum does not bloom: experts describe all the reasons
Spathiphyllum, also known as "female happiness," is a popular houseplant that is valued for its elegant white flowers and low maintenance. However, sometimes even it can stop blooming.
Fortunately, the reasons that negatively affect the development of spathiphyllum are quite easy to identify and fix. Woman and Home told about them in more detail.
Under ideal conditions, spathiphyllum can bloom two to three times a year. However, it is worth noting that young plants will not bloom until they are mature. This can take more than 1-2 years, so be patient.
Despite the fact that spathiphyllums are quite easy to care for, you can make a few mistakes that will have a bad effect on the development of the plant and prevent it from blooming. Fortunately, this is not a cause for concern, as they are quite easy to fix.
Insufficient lighting
If your spathiphyllum is in the shade, it probably lacks light. Try placing the plant in a north or east-facing window, but avoid direct sunlight as it can burn the leaves.
Watering
Spathiphyllums do not tolerate soil that is too wet. This can cause stress to the plant and prevent it from flowering.
Only water the lady's luck when the top layer of soil is dry.
However, do not let the soil dry out completely either. Please note that drooping leaves may indicate insufficient moisture, and yellowed leaves may be a sign of overwatering.
Air temperature
Spathiphyllums like temperatures between 18 and 30 degrees.
So, if your home is constantly cool, it can affect the flowering of the plant.
Also, too dry air can cause a lack of flowering.
Nutrients
Spathiphyllums, like any plant, need to receive nutrients. Every two to three months during the spring and summer growing season, you should feed it with a balanced fertilizer for indoor plants.
Also, if you have not repotted your spathiphyllum for a long time, it may already need a larger pot.
